[Πρέπει να είστε εγγεγραμμένοι και συνδεδεμένοι για να δείτε αυτόν το σύνδεσμο.]I’m gonna start this review with three words:
Terence. Paul. Winter.
Those who know me know of my obsession with this guy. As far as favorite writers go, he’s up there with Andrew.
If you’re unaware of the episodes he’s written, here they are:

2x08 - Kill the messenger
2x12 - A rose for everafter
2x14 - The third man
3x05 - Anatomy of a murder
3x19 - Law and murder
4x07 - Cops and robbers
4x14 - The Blue Butterfly
5x03 - Secret’s safe with me

He wrote “The Third Man” and “Cops and Robbers”, two
episodes that rank sky high for me - the former because of its humor,
the latter because of its emotion. Those two episodes are within my top
5. Now, I didn’t know Winter wrote this episode. I found myself enjoying
it immensely when I saw his name flash across the screen and my
excitement doubled instantly.
This episode was like a cross between “Third Man” and
“Cops and Robbers”. It made me laugh and it made me cry. My favorite
episode of season 5 so far.
Let’s dive into it.
I loved that this episode was all about the relationships
Castle has with the women in his life. Apart from Castle and Beckett,
there was significant stuff between Castle/Gates, Castle/Alexis and
Castle/Martha. And aside from that, Winter even managed to throw in some
Kate/Jim. No wonder this episode tugged at my heartstrings.
C a s t l e / B e c k e t tI’m both frustrated and satisfied with the writers holding
back on Castle and Beckett getting physical. This is pretty brave,
because an on-screen couple with lack of physical contact can quickly
come off as ‘buddies’. I know they’re holding out on us because they
don’t wanna give us the entire cake straight away, but I hope they’re
not pushing it too far. Until now, it’s been working because there’s
enough sexuality in the dialogue, the way they look at each other etc.,
but they can only do that for so long before it just seems forced.
On the other hand, that ‘handshake’ was - bar none - the
hottest thing I’ve seen on this show so far. When it was over I finally
exhaled and I never even realized I was holding my breath. Kudos also to
Nathan and Stana, who just nailed it. The tone, the facial expressions -
they hit it out of the ballpark. It’s clear that Castle and Beckett
haven’t spent many nights apart ever since they got together. Their
heartbroken faces gave you the impression that they were about to part
for 6 months. And it’s all because they couldn’t kiss goodnight. I don’t
know, maybe a scene like that would have appeared corny with two actors
who aren’t Nathan and Stana - but they can pull scenes like this off
like no one else can.
The whole stickman theory was so much fun. I was in
stitches by the time Castle started talking about the gipsy woman. Part
of me wanted him to speculate forever - that’s how funny it was. What he
said to her at the end was sweet and I love that despite the fact that
they’re an item now, he’s still her best friend. The same best friend
who patiently waited for her to open up about the story behind her
watching “Temptation Lane”. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who
immediately caught the parallel. Especially Castle’s facial expression
was almost identical. What I love even more is that they KNOW we catch
these little things. They know they have a dedicated audience.
Favorite line:

CASTLE: I so wish I could kiss you right now.
KATE: Yeah, I know.

C a s t l e / A l e x i sI love that they didn’t go the Alexis-hates-Beckett route,
because that scene at the loft where it seemed like she did? That made
her come off like a selfish brat who can’t be happy for her father.
That’s why I appreciated the scene at her dorm room even more. It was a
great father/daughter moment. I mean, Alexis didn’t seem exactly
thrilled for them, but I can live with her being a bit cautious for now.
As long as she doesn’t act bitchy about it, I’m good.
Favorite line:

ALEXIS: How can you be so smart and so clueless at the same time?
CASTLE: Practice?

C a s t l e / G a t e sOh. My. God. Penny had me on the floor. And it was just so
Castle to first make it seem like Rick ‘won’ only to pull the rug out from
under him in the end. She just loves to hate him, which is hilarious.
They’re like the non-sexual version of Castle and Beckett. Everybody
else’s reaction to creepy!Gates was hilarious as well. Kate looked
downright scared, like,
“What’s happening? Is it gonna attack him? Is it gonna kiss him? I don’t understand!” She looked almost relieved when Gates went back to being Iron Gates.
I just love that every relationship on this show takes its sweet time to develop.
C a s t l e / M a r t h aLeave it to Martha Rodgers to live rent free in her son’s
luxury loft and make it come off as a favor to HIM. Bless her, she’s so
awesome. And he loves her so much, he’d never want her to leave. It’d
break his heart.
K a t e / J i mThat tiny story warmed the heart of my inner Kate fan.
Since we barely ever get to see her family life, it’s nice to at least
hear about it. And I love Jim so much. He just seems like the kindest
man ever. I just want him back on my screen.
This season just seems to be getting better and better
with each episode. And all I can say is THANK YOU to the cast, crew and
writers for never being lazy. This show is just so good.
