[Πρέπει να είστε εγγεγραμμένοι και συνδεδεμένοι για να δείτε αυτόν το σύνδεσμο.]WARNING: This is super long. I’ve had more thoughts on the
episode than I anticipated. You’ll get brownie points if you actually
make it to the end. Before this season started, I said I wanted season 5 to be like
season 2, only with Castle and Beckett as a couple. Well, last week’s
episode wasn’t really anything to go by since a lot of loose ends from
“Always” needed to be tied up.
However, “Cloudy With A Chance Of Murder” was exactly what I expected
and hoped to see this season. The old school humor of Castle is back. I
didn’t realize just how much I missed the fun aspect of this show until
now. The reason I fell in love with this show was because it wasn’t
your typical dark, dramatic crime procedural. I’m glad the show went
back to its roots while at the same time re-inventing itself.
C A S T L E & B E C K E T TWhen I first heard about Castle and Beckett trying to keep their
relationship a secret, I was thrilled, because I knew that this was
gonna be a comedic gold mine. And it is. What I didn’t think of,
however, was that it would automatically limit the number of times
they’d get physical. That’s why - after I’d finished watching the
episode - I was left wanting a LOT more. This is by no means meant in a
negative way.
Tamala Jones said the way the relationship is written just makes you want more and more. And she’s right.
I’ve seen two extremes with two different shows when it comes to
couples getting physical on screen: one couple barely ever kissed or
touched much, and another couple sucked face TOO much. And trust me,
both of these extremes get annoying pretty fast.
I like the way Castle is handling it. The great thing is that Castle
and Beckett make up for the lack of physical contact with extreme sexual
tension
(*). The sexual aspect of their relationship
is still VERY MUCH present even if they’re not touching. Case in point:
their faces when Miles talked about the excitement of secret
relationships, the stolen moments, the sex etc. I mean,
I blushed just watching Castle and Beckett’s reactions. So yeah, while
I’m left wanting more, Marlowe doesn’t give me the impression that
Castle and Beckett having sex was just something he needed to get out of
the way. I’ve always believed that a big part of being in love is the
need to - pardon me for being blunt - screw each other’s brains out.
Especially if there are 4 years of foreplay involved. It’s just
realistic and I’m glad that Marlowe makes it pretty clear that they
still want each other no matter how many times they’ve slept together.
If this makes me sound shallow, so be it.
(*) When I say ‘lack of physical contact’, I
mean for Castle and Beckett’s standards. A couple who just got together
and is crazy about each other. I’m by no means implying they don’t touch
- obviously they do.)
Speaking of realism, I’m so glad that these two aren’t completely
confident yet when it comes to their relationship. I’m glad that even
though they know they’re in love, they know they will have to WORK for
their relationship. Their fears and insecurities as individuals haven’t
magically disappeared because they’re having sex.
I know this is a touchy subject, but even Kate’s fear of Castle being
unfaithful is realistic. Her “I know” after he said he never would’ve
slept with Christina wasn’t 100% convincing, and he saw that. The thing
about cheating is that it’s largely connected to opportunity. Castle is a
good-looking, famous millionaire. The guy does and always will have
opportunities. I can see how that would intimidate someone like Kate and
trigger her fears about losing people. The fact that he hasn’t exactly
been forthcoming about why his two marriages failed doesn’t help things.
We’ll see how this continues to play out over the season. That being
said, I don’t think Marlowe will ever have Castle or Beckett cheat on
each other, but I think it’s natural to have those fears in the back of
your mind no matter how in love you are.
Here are some scenes that stood out to me:
- Kate watching Castle goofing around in front of the weather
screen. I loved her smile and I loved the, “He’s such a man child, but
he’s MY man child” look on her face. That was pretty adorable.
<blockquote>
CASTLE: I never should’ve gone on that date, I should’ve said no.
KATE: Then why didn’t you?? </blockquote>
Great example of miscommunication right there. Kate wanted to do
anything to keep their relationship a secret, so Castle DID do
everything he could. Unfortunately Kate didn’t say anything when Castle
stepped out of her comfort zone and she should have.
<blockquote>
CASTLE: I’m no good at this - pretending to be single!
KATE: Castle, neither am I!</blockquote>
I loved that exchange. I love that they don’t know how to NOT be a couple now.
<blockquote>
CASTLE: Maybe people find out and maybe… we won’t get to work together and maybe we’ll implode or
maybe… we’ll continue to be amazing. Point is, we don’t have the answers, we just have to live with the questions and… find our way.
</blockquote>
My favorite bit of the whole episode. Kate is still scared of being
in a relationship that isn’t risk-free, one where she can’t keep one
foot out the door. This is something she needed to hear. They don’t HAVE
to have all the answers, they just have to be willing to fight for
their relationship. And I think that’s what Kate can relate to, because
she IS a fighter. This just shows how insanely well Castle knows her.
One of my favorite Caskett bits of all time. Just so good.
<blockquote>
KATE: Okay can…. well can we just start here then? Can we say that we will
talk about dating other people but we won’t actually
date other people?
CASTLE: Yeah! No, I can do that.
KATE: Okay good. Cause I have a gun and you don’t really have a choice.
CASTLE: Clearly I don’t have a choice.
</blockquote>
And he doesn’t
want to have a choice, because he’s already made his. He wants her and
only her. Also, kudos to Kate for playing the gun card. Hee.
E V E R Y T H I N G E L S E
- They should have more kids on this show. The boy was so adorable.
- The scene where the suspect refused to say anything without his
lawyer present was so funny. Caskett were all, “No biggie, we’ll just
sit here and talk about you then”. LOL. That was genius.
- The music in the scene with Castle and Christina at the loft was
awesome. Reminded me of “Jaws”, which was so fitting for that scene.
LOL! I also loved how Rick handled himself. Watching him try and get
away from her was hilarious and so very Castle.
<blockquote>
CHRISTINA: You know, no man has ever said no to me. Well, there was one.
CASTLE: Really? That sounds like an interesting story, tell me more about him. How did HE get away?
LMAO. Oh Castle.
</blockquote>
- Ryan and Espo - aw! The part where Espo realized that Ryan took a
punch for him reminded me of Castle realizing that Kate had his back in
4x21. That was a nice touch.
So, another incredibly solid episode that makes you even
hungrier for the rest of the season. I believe this can be summed up
with ‘good writing’.
10/10---------ναι οκ 10/10 ειναι φουλ υπερβολη γιατι η υποθεση ηταν ψιλοπατατα αλλα αν εξαιρεσεις την υποθεση sure why not?
